Many people hate the extremely onerous task of cleaning the household oven, but it’s actually not very difficult if you find the right way to do so and here at Ramsbottom Kitchens, we’re happy to help. These methods are even chemical free! Read below to find out how.

Option 1 – Overnight Oven Cleaning

With this easy, chemical free way you will keep your oven clean, and it’s so foolproof even a kitchen novice can do it!

  1. Gather your weapons for battle. You’ll need water, vinegar, baking soda, and sea salt.
  2. Prepare to fight. Mix half a bottle of vinegar with equal parts water.
  3. Start by taking out your oven racks, as you can do those after you finish your oven.
  4. Take your mixture of water and vinegar, then spray down the inside of your oven. Make sure not to forget the door.
  5. Next, you take your baking soda and sprinkle it all over the inside, putting more on the greasier areas and wherever there is baked on food.
  6. Spray again.
  7. Leave to sit overnight, and in the meantime you can also do your oven racks.
  8. The next day, take a cloth or sponge and scrub the oven. The dirt should almost slide off.
  9. If needed, spray again with the vinegar and water.
  10. Wipe down with a towel or paper towels
  11. Enjoy your fresh, chemical free oven!

Option 2 – Quick Smart Scrub

This option takes far less time, and is perfect for those moments a fussy guest is due to arrive and you don’t want them to find out how far you’ve let things slide.

  1. You will need baking soda and water. That’s it!
  2. Depending on how greasy your oven is, start by pouring a little bit of baking soda into a bowl.
  3. Mix in small amounts of water until you get a thick, toothpaste like consistency.
  4. Remove the oven racks.
  5. Spread the mixture all over your oven. BE GENEROUS! You won’t regret it.
  6. Now, you wait. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, When you’ve checked a small section and it comes up clean, it’s time to get down to business. Take either an old washcloth or a sponge and start scrubbing!
  7. Thankfully, this shouldn’t take too much elbow grease. If it does, you can also take some water mixed with a little bit of vinegar, spray it on and leave it sit for 10 minutes. Then wipe it all off with an old towel or paper towels and presto, you have a clean oven.

Option 3 (and our favourite!) – Get a Neff!

How to Clean an Oven

Of course, when you have a Neff oven, the superior range offers a Pyrolytic, or self cleaning, option that makes it even easier to degrease and degrime. With a Pyrolytic oven to clean you simply heat the unit to over 500 degrees and the food residue turns to a residue that is easily wiped out.  Perfect cleaning without the scrubbing!
